Mr Richard J. Sinnerton has been a consultant orthopaedic surgeon specialising in conditions of the upper limb for 6 years. He has a wide range of experience in many procedures and is a world-leader in Reverse Geometry Shoulder Arthroplasty for cuff tear arthropathy.

Trained at St. Thomas’ Hospital Medical School, he qualified in 1988 and started on a career path to become an orthopaedic surgeon. His passion for shoulder surgeon was born in 1996 when he was inspired whilst working as Fellow to Professor Pascal Boileau in Nice, France.

He returned to the UK and took up a post as Consultant at Ashford/St. Peter’s Hospitals in Surrrey. There he started up, developed and ran the shoulder and elbow service building an expertise and experience in many surgical techniques including arthroscopic shoulder stabilisations, 3rd generation total shoulder replacements and reverse geometry shoulder replacements.

He has published widely on shoulder surgery and regularly teaches, lectures and demonstrates on several procedures. Most recently he was an invited attendee at The American Orthopaedic Academy for a round-table discussion on Reverse Geometry Shoulder Arthroplasty with America’s 5 top shoulder surgeons. He has also recently finished co-authoring an article for The Journal of Bone and Joint Surgery on The State of the Art in Shoulder Arthroplasty.

He is now in full-time independent practice and is the senior surgeon at The London Upper Limb Unit.
